Brown, age 74, of 117 Brown Circle, Abbeville passed away
Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in the River Willows Nursing Center
in Abbeville. Funeral services will be held at 11A.M.,
Thursday, August 7th in the Christian Hill Free Will Baptist
Church with the Rev. Jimmy McDuffie and Rev. Wayne Martin
officiating. Interment will be in the Christian Hill
Cemetery. -Mrs. Brown was born on June 11, 1934 in Wilcox
County. She was the daughter of the late Alvin McDuffie and
Ethel Adams McDuffie. She was a member of Christian Hill
Free Will Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Lewis J. Brown. -Survivors
include son, J. David (Jan) Brown of Cochran; daughters,
Lawana (Rick) Kivett of Senoia and Kathy (Brent) Gibbs of
Rochelle; brother, Rev. Jimmy (Michelle) Mc Duffie of
Ocilla; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

James Wyatt Faircloth -ROCHELLE - James Wyatt Faircloth, age
61, of 725 Braden Road, Rochelle, passed away Saturday,
August 2, 2008 in the Pineview Health Care Center. Funeral
services will be held at 4P.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in
the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Rev. Curt McDuffie, Jr.
and Rev. Blake Westbrook will officiate. Interment will be
in the Pope City Cemetery. -Mr. Faircloth was born April 19,
1947 in Pulaski County. Son of Bobbie Stewart Faircloth and
the late Wyatt Faircloth. He was a member of the Mount
Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a retired Civil Service
Employee from Robins Air Force Base. He was a Vietnam
Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in
death by his father, Wyatt Faircloth in 1978, grandparents,
Dave and Tillie Faircloth and James Edgar Stewart and Bertie
Mae Stewart. -Survivors include Mother, Bobbie S. Faircloth,
Pineview; Wife, Janice A. Faircloth, Rochelle; Daughters,
Stephanie (Curtis, Jr.) McDuffie, Eureka, Montana, Tiffany
(Jeffery) Cox, MacClenny, FL, Brittany Faircloth of Rochelle

Clements, age 91 of 386 Third Avenue, Rochelle, passed away
Monday, July 7, 2008 in the Taylor Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July
9, 2008 in the Rhine United Methodist Church. Rev. Matthew
Yarbrough will officiate. Interment will be in the Bay
Springs Cemetery in Rhine. -Mrs. Clements was born on
October 17, 1916 in Wilcox County. She has lived in Rochelle
since 1993 moving from Rhine. She was daughter of the late
Milton Linton Carter and Henrietta Smith Carter. She was a
member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church and was
former member of the Rhine United Methodist Church where she
taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the
Wilcox Rifles Chapter-UDC, the Dogwood Garden Club, and the
General David Blackshear Chapter-DAR. She was a former
teacher and operated the Rhine Gift Shop and was a retired
Postal Clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy
G. "Buster" Clements and two sisters-Martha Braziel and
Lucille Nelle Hearn. -Survivors include: Sons ; Andy
Clements of Rochelle and Milton G. (Laura) Clements of
Douglas, Daughter ; Elizabeth Clements Cannon of Rhine, 7
grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. -Frazier and Son

age 59, of 191 2nd Avenue, Rochelle, passed away Friday,
July 4, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be held
at 2P.M. Sunday, July 6, 2008 in the First Baptist Church of
Rochelle. Rev. Jim Tillery, Rev. Jim Wiley, and Rev. David
Cobb will officiate. Interment will be in the Morningside
Cemetery. -Mrs. Tillery was born on October 19, 1948 in Tift
County. She had formerly lived in Warner Robins moving to
Wilcox County, Rochelle, Georgia in 1997. She was a retired
school teacher at Robins Elementary School where she had
taught for 32 years. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Rochelle. -Survivors include husband, Rev. Jim
Tillery of Rochelle; stepfather, Wendell Fisher of
Abbeville; son, Sandy Tillery of Bonaire; daughter, Siri
Tillery of Warner Robins; brother, Rev. Jay Moore (Lamara)
of Dublin; and a niece, Jessi Moore of Dublin. -Visitation
will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2008 in the

2008 in Hawkinsville, GA. Funeral services will be held at
3P.M., Thursday, June 19, 2008 in the Christian Home Baptist
Church in Wilcox County with Rev. David Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in Rochelle. -Mrs.
Evans was a native of Wilcox County and a member of the
Christian Home Baptist Church. She was a retired grocer and
a homemaker. She was a member of D.A.R. and the U.D.C. and
the Rochelle Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her
husband, John Merrett Evans, Sr. -Survivors include a
daughter and son, Debbie (Larry) Brown of Hawkinsville, GA
and Johnny (Kaye) Evans of Centerville, GA; grandchildren,
Trey Evans, Melissa Evans, Wes (Mendi) Brown and Cassie
Brown; two great-grandchildren, Josh Brown and Maggie Brown;

will be in the Cannonville Cemetery. -Mrs. Gibbs was born on
October 26, 1929 in Wilcox County, Georgia. She was daughter
of the late Duce Layfield and Ealon Hardy Layfield. She was
a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adren D. Gibbs in
1972, a daughter, Barbara Gibbs in 1969 and a son, Chris
Gibbs in 1980. -Survivors include son, Jimmy D. (Thelma)
Gibbs of Rochelle; daughters, Jackie (Frank) Rogers of
Warner Robins, Shirley (Larry) Sinyard of Gordon, and Diane

Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services
will be held at 10:30A.M. Friday, June 13, 2008 in the Pitts
Church of God with the Rev. Hicks Brown and Rev. Ed Reeves
officiating. Interment will be in the Double Run Cemetery.
-Mr. McDuffie was born on February 23, 1945 in Wilcox
County. He was son of the late R. B. McDuffie and Martha
Lourie Adams McDuffie. He was employed by the Cabinet
Warehouse in Fitzgerald and was a member of the Church of
God in Fitzgerald. -Survivors include wife, Mary Ann
McDuffie of Rochelle; sons, Rev. Curtis M. McDuffie, Jr. of
Eureka, Montana and Michael Keith McDuffie of Rochelle;
sister, Wilda Rea Barrett of Milledgeville; four grandsons,

Thursday, June 5, 2008 in the Dorminy Medical Center in
Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 3P.M. Saturday,
June 7, 2008 in the Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev.
Chuck Taylor and Rev. Tommy Baker officiating. Interment
will be in the Siloam Cemetery. -Mr. McCall was born in
Abbeville on December 27,1938 to the late John McCall and
Alice Newman McCall. He was a member of the Siloam Baptist
Church and was retired from Civil Service Robins Air Force
Base. He was an active member of the Western Light Masonic
Lodge #272 in Abbeville and had served in the United States
Army Reserves. He was an avid fisherman and
conservationalist. -Those who will forever treasure his
memory are his wife of 42 years, LaJoy Collins McCall of
Abbeville; and his daughter, Teresa LaJoy McCall of Eastman;
and grandson, Pierce C McCall; sisters, Velma Taylor, Mary
Shedd, and Emma Lee Sheafer, all of Abbeville, and Myrtle
Huddleston of Dacula; nieces, Betty Sue Taylor Bagwell and
Janice Shedd Ledford, both of Abbeville, several other

Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery. -Mrs. Reeves was
born on February 10, 1937 in Ben Hill County having lived
the greater part of her life in Wilcox County. She was
daughter of the late Joe Doris Fletcher and Marie Hurt
Fletcher. She was a member of the Rebecca United Methodist
Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Marcus Seth Reeves, Sr. -Survivors include sons,

Ferguson, age 80, of 340 Fourth Avenue, Rochelle, passed
away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in the Medical Center of Central
Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 4P.M. on Friday,
May 16, 2008 in the First Baptist Church of Rochelle with
Rev. Jim Wiley officiating. Interment will be in the
Morningside Cemetery. -Mr. Ferguson was born on August 3,
1927 in Greene County having lived the greater part of his
life in Wilcox County. He was son of the late Rufus C.
Ferguson and Mary Lee Campbell Ferguson. He was retired from
the Georgia Power Co. with approximately 42 years of
service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Rochelle where he served as a deacon, and the Exploring the
Bible Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Rochelle
Masonic Lodge #190 and the Rochelle Lions Club having served
50 years in each club. He was a member of the Wilcox County
Farm Bureau and had served his country with honor during
World War II in the United States Navy. -Survivors include
Wife, Lavelle G. Ferguson of Rochelle; sons, Jimmy Ferguson
of Unadilla and Lee Ferguson of Rochelle; daughters, Barbara
F. Woods of Vienna and Frances F. Williams of Pinehurst;
brothers, Lamar Ferguson of Pavo, GA and Walter M. (Bo)
Ferguson of Morrow, GA; eight grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

the Lebanon Cemetery. -Mrs. Wilson was born on November 20, 1918 in
Dodge County. She had lived in Wilcox County since 1938. She was
daughter of the late Daniel Campbell Yancey and Kizzie Idora Pitts
Yancey. She was retired from the Garment Industry and the Community
Service Center/Heart of Georgia. She was the oldest member of the
Lebanon Baptist Church and was a member of the Ola Keene Circle. She
was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Wilson.

daughters, Barbara (William) Harrell of Eastman and Frankie Sue
(Larry) Keene of Abbeville; sisters, Zesta Hilliard of Rhine and

She had lived all her life in Wilcox County. She was daughter of the
late Joe H. Smith and Nell Davis Smith. She was retired from the
Garment Industry where she worked in Quality Control and Inspection.

Willingham Road, Abbeville, passed away Thursday, April 10,
2008 in the Taylor Regional Hospital. Funeral services will
be held at 2P.M. Sunday, April 13, 2008 in the Kramer
Baptist Church. Rev. Talmadge Wilcox will officiate.
Interment will be in the Morningside Cemetery. -Mr. Baker
was born on July 1, 1921 in Tift County. He was son of the
late Willie Baker and Lizzie Mae Pitts Baker. He was retired
from Robins Air Force Base and was a part time plumber. He
was a member of Kramer Baptist Church and the American
Legion Wilcox Post #71. He served his country with honor
during World War II in the United States Army. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Louise Calhoun
Baker, two brothers, Willie and J. B. Baker and one
daughter, Mary Ann Baker. -Survivors include sons, Nelton
Ray Baker of Rochelle, Aldo H. Baker of Cordele, Arthur Lee
Baker of Vienna, Elvin A. Baker of Rochelle, Donnie G. Baker
of Pitts, and Michael E. Baker of Rochelle; daughters,

The Rev. Clint Sullens and Dr. Dennis Phillips will
officiate. Interment will be in the Pitts Cemetery. -Mrs.
Turk was born in Wilcox County on November 24, 1912. She was
daughter of the late Nathaniel Lee Teagle, Jr. and Sadie
Elizabeth Olds Teagle and was a homemaker. She was a member
of the Pitts Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School
Class where she taught Sunday School for 61 years and was a
Bible School Teacher. She was preceded in death by her
husband, George Elbert Turk, in 1972. -Survivors include
son, G. B. (Gaynelle) Turk of Sandersville and Emil (Romelle)
Turk of Macon; daughters, Annie Grace Gordon of Rochelle and
WillaDean (Bob) Cooper of Warner Robins; 10 grandchildren
and 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great

on March 11, 1934 in Bleckley County having lived the
greater part of her life in Wilcox County. She was daughter

retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and was
a member of the Christian Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin M. McDuffie, Jr.
in 2005, a son, Al McDuffie in 1993, and a daughter, Nancy

96, of Rochelle (Owensboro Community) passed away Wednesday, October
31st in the Fitzgerald Nursing Home. Funeral services were held at
2P.M. Friday, November 2nd in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

26, 1910 in Ben Hill County and had lived all her life in Wilcox
County. She was daughter of the late Willis Gibbs and Linia Lovett

served his country with honor during the Korean Conflict in
the United States Army. He was preceded in death by a son,

age 89 of 1552 First Avenue, Rochelle passed away Friday,
June 22 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at
11A.M. Monday in the Rochelle United Methodist Church. Rev.
Joyce Harris and Rev. Matthew Yarbrough will officiate.
Interment will be in the Morningside Cemetery. -Mr. Tippins
was born on October 8, 1917 in Wilcox County. He was son of
the late Leroy G. Tippins, Sr. and Mary Clifford Mashburn
Tippins. He was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist
Church and former member of the Columbia Country Club,
Fitzgerald Country Club, Pine Hills Country Club, and
Mallard Point Golf Club. He was Director of Rochelle State
Bank and was a member of the American Legion Post #71.
Before serving in the Air Force of World War II where he
served his country with honor and received several medals
and bronze stars, he was employed by the U. S. Forestry
Service. Following the war, he was employed by the Veterans
Service of the State of Georgia and later he was
Coordinating Administrative Regional Manager of Allied
Chemical Corp, which included five southeastern states with
offices in Atlanta and Columbia S. C. Following retirement
he became regional manager for Nitron Chemical Corp., which
also included Southeastern States. He was preceded in death
by his sister-Frances Matilda Minor, brothers-Henry "Bub"
Tippins and George Glen Tippins. -Survivors include wife,
Marguerite H. Tippins of Rochelle, four nephews, Clifton
Minor of Oregon, Glen (Susan) Minor of Colorado, Edward
(Mary H.) Minor of Savannah and Clif (Kansas) Tippins of
Loganville, and a sister-in-law-Ruby Tippins of Rochelle.

Jewell Hamlin -PINEVIEW-Mrs. Jewell Hamlin, 90, of Pineview,
GA. Died Monday, March 12, 2007. Graveside services will be
held at 11A.M. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 in the Mt. Pleasant
Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Blake Westbrook
officiating. -Mrs. Hamlin was a native of Wilcox County and
a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was a
member of the Eastern Star for many years. She was a retired
postal clerk and employee of Clements Drug Store. She was a
volunteer at the Pineview Health Care Center. Mrs. Jewell
loved to cook cookies and bread for family and friends. -She
is survived by two sisters, Bernice (Jose) Benitez and Maude
Hardy all of Pineview, GA; several nieces and nephews. -In
lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the building
fund at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Pineview, GA.
-Visitation will be held following the graveside service at

Cook Cornell -ROCHELLE - Gladys Cook Cornell, age 74, of 587
Gordon Street, Rochelle, passed away Friday, February 23,
2007 in the Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald. Services
will be at 11A.M. Monday in the Tabernacle Baptist Church
with Rev. Ralph Griffin, Rev. Joel Owens, Rev. Danny Allen,
and Rev. Jimmy McDuffie officiating. Interment will be in
the Morningside Cemetery. -Gladys Cook Cornell was the
youngest daughter of Ida Walker Cook and Roy Mitchell Cook.
She was born in Ben Hill County December 7, 1932. She was a
resident of Wilcox County until her marriage to James Walter
Cornell In 1951. The couple resided in Orlando, Florida
until 1975 when they returned to Rochelle. She was a charter
member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as
pianist for 31 years and music director for 48 years and as
a piano teacher for 35 years. She taught two generations of
students who will remember her recitals each year. She was a
member of the Wilcox Rifles Chapter of the Daughters of the
Confederacy serving six years as president and holding other
offices. She was also a member of the Alberta Crummey Garden
Club having served as president, 1st vice president, and
secretary. She was a member of the Daughters of the American
Revolution for eleven years. She served as president of the
Rochelle Woman's Club for seven years. -She is survived by
her son, Mitchell (Kay) Cornell; two grandsons, Jarred
Cornell and Caleb Cornell, all of Rochelle; one sister, Nell
Cook Johnson; one niece and three nephews. -Music will be
provided by Tabernacle Baptist Church Choir and former
students, Mark Hilliard, Johnny Brown, Alex Clements, Chris
Eason, and Michael Henderson. Serving as pallbearers will be
the Deacon Body of Tabernacle Baptist Church. -Visitation
will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday in the funeral

Saturday, February 17, 2007 in Wilcox County. Funeral services will be

Home with Rev. Freddie Rhodes officiating. Burial will be private. -Mrs.
Rhodes was a native of Bleckley County, a member of the Baptist faith
and a retired nurse of 34 years from the Pineview Health Center in
Pineview. She was preceded in death by her husband Windrel Rhodes.
-Survivors include daughter, Wendy (Harry) McGlamry of Pitts; son, Eddie
(Rose) Rhodes of Hawkinsville; grandchildren, Brian (Kristy) McGlamry of
Eastman, Christy (Brian) Troupe of Rochelle, Lori (Ed) Hamilton of
Albany and Tiffany (Jermery) Nipper of Pinehurst; five great
grandchildren; sister, Nell McDuffie of Rochelle; brothers, Nathan

Randall -ABBEVILLE - Brandon Caine Randall, age 32 of 112 McCampbell
St., passed away Monday in Abbeville. Funeral services will be at 1P.M.
Thursday in the Abbeville First Baptist church. The Rev. James Faircloth
and Rev. Chuck Taylor will officiate. Interment will be in the Stubbs
Cemetery. -Brandon was born on September 17, 1974 in DeKalb County
having lived the greater part of his life in Wilcox County. He was a
special operations trainer for South Georgia with The Georgia Department
of Corrections and was a member of the Abbeville First Baptist Church.
He was a very active sportsman in school. He was preceded in death by
grandparents, Cohen Dillard Randall, Dorothy Randall, and Dudley
Marchant. -Survivors include: wife, Sandy Randall of Abbeville, mother
and step-father, Gwen and Dean Marchant of Abbeville, Father, Robert
Randall or Roswell, son, Brandon Randall, Jr. of Abbeville, brother,
Dean Marchant, Jr. of Abbeville; sisters, Jessica Marchant of Abbeville,
Brandy Randall of Panama City, Florida, and and Jamie Frost of
Ellaville; maternal grandmother, Lura Craft of Abbeville; and paternal
grandmother, Mary W. Marchant of Rochelle. -Visitation will be from 6:00
until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home. -The family may be

Jones -ROCHELLE - Annie Gay Jones, best known for being a Wilcox County
schoolteacher, died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Taylor Regional Hospital
in Hawkinsville at the age of 87. -She was a lifelong resident of
Rochelle, GA and a member of the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
-Annie was a published Poet and a prolific writer, receiving many awards
and esteemed honors. Unable to attend the International Society Poets
Convention and Symposium in Las Vegas, Nevada last year on July 23, a
portrait of her was sent and displayed at the reading of her
award-winning poem, "The Important Things in Life." -Annie received her
basic education in the Wilcox County School System, Rochelle and
graduated from high school at the Vienna Industrial High School in
Vienna. She received her B.S. degree in Education from Fort Valley State
College and her Master's degree from Tuskegee University in Alabama and
also attended continuing education classes at the University of Georgia.
-She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fairfield
Chapter 41, Rochelle. -A wake service is scheduled for Friday, February
2, 2007 at the Ferguson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with funeral
services to follow on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 11A.M. in the
sanctuary of the Piney Grove M.B. Church, Rochelle. -Ferguson Brothers
