Chapel Cemetery. Dr. Kelly Pritchett will officiate. -Mrs.
Baker was a native of Pulaski County and a member of the
Double Branch Freewill Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

Gardens with Dr. Kelly Pritchett and Rev. Jeff Waters
officiating. -Mr. Bell was a native of Houston County and a
member of the Broad Street Baptist Church. He was a former
employee of Pulaski County. -Survivors include his wife,
Beulah N. Bell of Hawkinsville, GA; daughter and son, Linda
Faye Bell of Eastman, GA and Bobby Bell of Homerville, GA;
loving stepchildren, Joyce Keen, Joanne Morris and Dwight
Poole, all of Hawkinsville, GA and Janice Goldman of
Atlanta, GA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Faye Bennett Grinstead -HAWKINSVILLE - Memorial Services for
Faye Bennett Grinstead, 64, of Hawkinsville, who died June
7, 2008, will be held at 11A.M. on Tuesday, June 10th in the
First Baptist Church of Hawkinsville. -Born December 14,
1943 to Florence Owen Bennett and Chester Lee Bennett, Ms.
Grinstead was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County. She was
preceded in death by her parents; sister, Murielda D. Wynne;
brothers, Lawrence L. Bennett, Albert C. Bennett, T. Kent
Bennett; sister-in-law, Kathryne D. Bennett. -Survivors
include daughter and son-in-law, Anita G. and Dr. Larry D.
Gattis; grandson, Gabriel D. Gattis, all of Hawkinsville;
brothers, Rouel W. (Patsy) Bennett of Hawkinsville, Russell
(Claudia Mae) Bennett of Griffin; sister, Elousie (Don)
Ruble of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Mae H. Bennett, Lucille C.
Bennett, both of Hawkinsville; brother-in-law, Merritt Wynne
of Hawkinsville; closest friend and source of strength,
Barbara C. Woodard of Hawkinsville; special cousin, Betty Jo
Conner; many nieces, nephews and cousins. -On October 22,
2005 Ms. Grinstead's youngest daughter, Tara Faye Grinstead
who was living and teaching high school history in Ocilla,
disappeared without a trace at the age of 30. Tara Grinstead
has never been found. Through this tragedy, Faye carried
herself with a quiet grace and dignity, just as she had her
entire life. -In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make

Miller, director and founder of Texas EquuSearch, continues
to search for Faye's daughter, Tara. Ms. Grinstead put her
confidence and faith in this organization with hopes that
they will find her precious Tara. -The family will receive

Baptist Church of Hawkinsville on Monday night. -Fisher

Beulah Cofield Lancaster -HAWKINSVILLE -
Beulah C. Lancaster, age 99, was called to her heavenly home
on June 1, 2008. Graveside services will be held at 11A.M.
Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in Powers Cemetery in Pulaski County,
with Reverend Buddy Conway officiating. -Mrs. Lancaster, the
daughter of the late Carl and Susie Lewis Cofield, was a
native of Pulaski County, a faithful member of Corinth
Baptist Church, beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She is
preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Roy Lancaster,
son, Leroy Lancaster, Jr. and granddaughter, Laura Grinstead.
-Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Kennedy, Virginia
Scarborough and Elsie McNair, all of Hawkinsville; four
sons, William Lancaster, Carl Lancaster and Edward
Lancaster, all of Hawkinsville and Snell Lancaster of
Jacksonville, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 34
great-grandchildren. -In her early years, she was a bugler
for the Girl Scouts. She was valedictorian of her class of
1927 and received an Associates degree from Valdosta State
College for Women in 1929. Although certified to teach,
marriage and family changed her life's direction. Initially
Methodist, she joined Corinth Baptist Church after marriage,
where she was an active member, teaching Sunday School,
Vacation Bible School and the WMU. Her life was dedicated to
her husband, family and church. -The family may be contacted
at the homeplace on Corinth Church Road, Hawkinsville. In

Mary Louise "Bonnie" Coleman, 91, of Hawkinsville, GA. died
Sunday June 1, 2008 at her residence. Graveside funeral
services will be held at 2P.M., Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in
Orange Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Gary Abbott officiating.
-Mrs. Coleman was a native of Lebanon, Tennessee. She was a
member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church, having served on the
Altar Guild and The Mission Council. She was a bookkeeper
having worked for many years with International Harvester in
Arcadia, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Coy Coleman. -Survivors include special friends, the
families of Sam Way III and Ramsey T. Way, Willie F. "Beau"

"Bill" Pope -HAWKINSVILLE - William D. "Bill" Pope of Hawkinsville,
Georgia passed away May 23, 2008 in the Houston County Medical
Center. Bill was born in Savannah, Georgia, reared and attended
schools in Macon, Georgia and was a veteran of World War II, serving
in France, Belgium and Germany in General Patton's Third Army. -Bill
moved to Hawkinsville in 1948 and was a retired cattleman with other
agri-business interests. He served as trustee of Taylor Regional
Hospital and the Hawkinsville School Board. He also served as past
president of the following organizations: Hawkinsville Rotary Club,
Georgia Beef Cattle Improvements Association, Georgia Angus
Association, Georgia Cattlemen's Association, Southside Farms and
Farmers Supply Service. Bill served as Deacon and Trustee of the
Hawkinsville First Baptist Church. -Bill was preceded in death by
his mother and father, Jewel and Marvin Pope and his brother, Col.
James H. Pope. -Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marilynn B.
Pope of Hawkinsville; sons, Bobby Pope (Genelle) of Hawkinsville and
Billy Pope (Valerie) of Shawnee, Oklahoma; daughter, Sally Pohler
(Mike) of Tallahassee, FL; two grandchildren, Andrea Pohler Able
(Jeremy) and Michael Scott Pohler (Stephanie); great granddaughter,
Sydney Pohler; and great grandson, Seth Pohler; three sisters,
Eleanor Pope, Annette Pope Smith (Harvey) and Martha Pope Hunicutt

GA. She was a retired librarian having worked in the Wilcox

officiating. Burial will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery. -Mrs.
Lanier was a native of Dodge County and a member of the Hawkinsville
First Baptist Church. She was a retired library assistant. She was a
member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Lanier was preceded in death by her
husband, Cecil P. Lanier, son, Bobby Gene Bozeman and an infant son.

-Mrs. Sullivan was born in Atlanta, Georgia but was raised
in Ellijay, Georgia. She was a member of the Hawkinsville
First Baptist Church. She was retired civil service from
Robins Air Force Base. She was past president of NARFE and
the Pink Ladies. Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the American
Red Cross Volunteers and the Chamber of Commerce. She was on
the AARP Board of Directors, the Arts Council and the
Midstate Mixers. She was preceded in death by her parents,
Johnny William and Alice Whitaker Ray, her husbands, John W.
Davis and Woodrow Sullivan, and one son, Michael Sullivan.

Financial Officer for the U.S. Army at the Pentagon before
retiring. He was a member of NARFE. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Dudley Hill and Katilee Mosley Stoneberg,

adopted father, Arthur Stoneberg. -Surviving family members

member of the Hawkinsville Fire Department and the Hawkinsville
Emergency Management Department. He was preceded in death by his

in McRae, Georgia. -Mrs. Bowen was a native of Telfair County and a
member of the Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church. She was a
member of the Lucille Adams Sunday School Class. She was a retired
hostess having worked at the New Perry Hotel for many years. She was
a pink lady at the Taylor Regional Hospital. Mrs. Bowen was a member
of the Hawkinsville Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Society. She was
preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Bowen, parents, Arthur T.
Grimsley and Mary Margaret Shaw Grimsley, sisters, Betty G. Jackson,

Michael Scott Carroll, Sr. -HAWKINSVILLE - Michael Scott
Carroll, Sr., 60, entered into rest on Sunday, April 6,
2008. -Mr. Carroll was born on August 3, 1947 in Vienna,
Georgia. He attended First Methodist Church of Hawkinsville.
With pride and honor, he served his country in the U. S.
Navy and participated in the Vietnam Conflict. A retired
Civil Servant, Mr. Carroll enjoyed several hobbies,
particularly hunting, fishing and playing softball. His
parents, Roscoe B. Carroll and Carolyn Moore Carroll,
preceded him in death. -Survivors include his wife, Sue
Carroll, Hawkinsville; daughter, Michelle C. Martin,
Hawkinsville; son Michael Scott Carroll, Jr. (Sandy), Macon;
brother Jeff Carroll (June), Warner Robins; sister, Angel
Anthony (Jay), California; and four grandchildren.

Eastman, Georgia passed away on February 22, 2008. -Services

-Mr. Gatlin was born on December 29, 1934 and was a lifelong
resident of Pulaski County. He was a member of the armed

Sunday School teacher for 37 years. He was retired from the
Southern Bell Telephone Company and Mitchell EMC. -Survivors

(Ben); great-grandchildren, Taylor Faulk and Gavin Faulk.

Ford Henry Wilson, Sr. -KATHLEEN, GA - Rev. Ford Henry Wilson, Sr.,
86, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2008.
Services will be at 3P.M. Sunday in the Bonaire First Baptist Church
with burial in Bonaire Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until
7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. -Rev. Wilson was born in
Carroll County, GA and reared in Thomaston, GA. He was the son of
the late Homer L. Wilson and Sallie Elizabeth (Payne) Wilson. He was
also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Anna (Newton)
Wilson, two brothers, Doug and George Wilson and two sisters, Lois
Cole and Pauline Wood. He was a graduate of the Robert E. Lee
Institute in Thomaston, GA and Mercer University in Macon. He served
his country proudly in the United States Army-Air Corps. While
fighting in War World II, he became a MIA in France for the months
of June through August of 1944. Rev. Wilson's first love was the
ministry. He pastored the following churches: New Bethel in
Cuthbert, GA; Highway Chapel in Thomaston, GA; Bonaire Baptist
Church in Bonaire; Blue Springs in Hawkinsville; Second Memorial in
Perry and Henderson Baptist in Henderson. At the time of his death,
Rev. Wilson was a member of Bonaire First Baptist Church and was
retired from Robins Air Force Base in the Procurement Division.
-Survivors include his son, Ford (Donna) Wilson, Jr. of Kathleen;
daughters, Jan (Dennis) Powell of Kathleen, Lisa (Mike) Kelly of

officiating. -He was born April 23, 1924 in Mercer County,
Ohio, the son of Harry and Annetta Boroff. Mr. Boroff served
in World War II with the 84th Infantry Division where he
earned several awards including the Bronze Star for action
in the Battle of the Bulge. -After the war, he attended
several schools studying animal science. Mr. Boroff had a
prominent career as a standardbred horse trainer, having
three Ohio Horses of the Year. -Survivors include his wife
of 60 years, Carolyn A. Boroff; a daughter, Tonianne Boroff

Sherry Frances Martin Floyd -HAWKINSVILLE - Sherry Frances
Martin Floyd, age 55, went home to her heavenly Father on
December 31, 2007 after a brief battle with cancer. -Sherry
was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She moved to the
Middle Georgia area, making it her home, in 1979. -Sherry
attended college in Atlanta and in northern Alabama and took
many courses of interest through the years. Her passion for
knowledge and love of people led her to begin her own
business, Retirement Benefits Service Agency, where she was
sole proprietor from 1983 until 1996 when she was forced to
medically retire with systemic lupus. Her favorite part of
her business was teaching seminars to large groups such as
the National League of Postmasters (Denver, Colorado and
Dallas, Texas) and others. -Children were Sherry's #1 love.
At one time she had five children under the age of five.
These included two foster children and three children still
in diapers. Further demonstrating her love of and commitment
to children, she began three non-denominational Bible Clubs
for children over the years and taught Sunday School,
children's church, and Vacation Bible School as well.
-Throughout her life, Sherry has been active in a number of
churches, beginning with Morgan Falls Baptist and the First
Baptist Church of Sandy Springs (both in the Atlanta area).
Most recently, Sherry attended Westview Baptist Church in
Hawkinsville. -Sherry is preceded in death by two of her
sons, infant Joshua Adam Floyd (1974), and Micah Allen Floyd
(2003). -Sherry is survived by her loving parents, Frances
and Landrum Thomas "L.T." Martin of Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Other family members who will deeply miss Sherry include her
three surviving children and their families: a devoted son,
Jeremiah Jonathan Floyd and his daughter, Emily (Kelly and
Edgard); a beautiful daughter, Michelle Floyd Powell
(Rodney) and her son, Jason; and a beautiful daughter,
Ashley Michelle Floyd. -Two surviving brothers and their
families will deeply miss sister Sherry as well: Tom Martin
(Nancy) of Sugar Hill, Georgia, and Dr. Charles Martin
(Marilyn, Brandon, Julie) of Derby, Kansas. In addition,
Sherry was blessed with an extended family of aunts, uncles,
cousins and other relatives too numerous to list. -Further,
Sherry was abundantly blessed by many precious friends that
she considered "more valuable than silver and gold." Several
of them have been there for Sherry since her "fight for
life" began. -To honor her life, a memorial service for
Sherry will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 2P.M. at
McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins. Along with family
members and friends, Quinn Hammock of Lizella, Georgia will
speak at the service. Friends are encouraged to meet the
family at the funeral home prior to the memorial service,
beginning at 12 Noon until 2:00 P.M. -In lieu of flowers,

Murphy Bozeman, 78, of Hawkinsville, GA died Friday, October
26, 2007 in Hawkinsville. Memorial services will be held at

Rhodes officiating. -Mr. Bozeman was a lifelong resident of
Hawkinsville, GA. He was the son of the late Nathaniel Jelks
and Nannie Cobb Bozeman. Mr. Bozeman, lovingly known as
"Uncle Neil" to everyone, was born and grew up on the farm
on the Abbeville Highway. He attended Hawkinsville High
School. He was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by
his parents, a brother, Robert Cobb Bozeman and an infant
son, David Bozeman. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Bozeman was a resident of Pineview Nursing Home the last
several years of his life where he was cared for by the
staff with love and concern. -Survivors include his son,
Cornelius M. "Bo" Bozeman, Jr. of Hawkinsville; daughter,
Shirley Bozeman Terry and several grandchildren; his
brother, Warren Nathaniel Bozeman and Glenda, his
sister-in-law and second mother; nephews, W.N. "Chip"

Pulaski County Elementary School in 2002 where she served as
secretary for 30 years and a paraprofessional for two years.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Hubert

Hogg was a native of Bleckley County. He was raised

Georgia as a forest ranger after 34 years of serving in
Pulaski, Peach and Houston Counties. He was an Army veteran
of the Korean War. Mr. Hogg was the first non farmer to
receive the conservation award from the Woodmen of the
World. He was a full-time husband, father and grandfather.

Julia Lynn Higginbotham Evans -HAWKINSVILLE - Julia Lynn
Higginbotham Evans entered into rest July 30, 2007 at
Medical Center of Central Georgia. -Julia was born July 17,
1948 in South Charleston, West Virginia, daughter of Belva
Rae Cunningham and Richard Hargrove Higginbotham. She
graduated from Lakeland Senior High School in Lakeland, Fla.
in 1966, Western Carolina University in 1971 and received
her Masters in Education from Georgia Southern University in
1976 and her Educational Specialist Degree in 1979 from
Georgia Southern University. -She was an English teacher and
school psychologist for 35 years. She was a member of Delta
Kappa Gamma and Beta Sigma Phi. Julia was also an active
member of the Georgia Association of School Psychologists
and served as membership chairman. She taught the Joy Adult
Sunday School at Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church
for many years and participated in the Anna Rachel UMW
Circle. Julia also was very active in the Pulaski County
Little theater, serving as director for several productions.
-She was survived by her husband, Elliott Leary Evans, Sr.
of 32 years and her two children, Margaret Rae Evans of
Washington and Elliott (Brandy) Leary Evans, Jr. of
Hawkinsville; two grandchildren, Madison Jade Dye and
William Richard Evans; sisters, Janet Kay (Jim) Reynolds of
Leesburg, Va., Rachel Ann (John) Baxter of Pensacola, FL;
brothers, Richard Hargrove Higginbotham and Shawn Allen
(Robyn) Higginbotham, both of Houston, TX; and several
nieces and nephews. -Funeral services will be held Thursday,
at 11A.M. at Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church in
Hawkinsville with interment following at 4P.M. at Westover
Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Visitation will be at Clark
Funeral Home in Hawkinsville, Ga. on Wednesday, August 1,
2007 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. -In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that donations be made to First United
Methodist Church, William Richard Evans Medical Fund in
Hawkinsville at 401 Merritt Street, Hawkinsville, Ga. 31036.

age 81, of 196 Jabrok Circle, died Monday in a local
hospital. Funeral service will be held at 1P.M.,
Thursday August 2, 2007 in the Chapel of Crest Lawn
Funeral Home with burial in Glen Haven Memorial
Gardens. Rev. Sydney Odom will officiate. -Mrs.
Grimsley was born in Pulaski County, a member of VFW
Auxiliary 6605, Warner Robins, the Fleet Reserve
#91, Jacksonville, Fl. the AARP, volunteer with the
handicapped in Jacksonville. Mrs. Grimsley spent her
lifetime helping others. She was preceded in death
by her parents, Oswell and Margaret Shepard
McKinney, brother, Joe Henry McKinney, sisters,
Wilma Worthy and Gladys Elliott. -Survivors include
her husband Jack S. Grimsley of Macon; daughter,
Saundra (Carl) Nelson of Lake Lure, N.C.;
grandchildren, Shawn Culbreth of Thomasville,
Christopher Culbreth of Lake Lure, N.C.;
great-grandson, Joshua Culbreth of Thomasville;
sisters, Jewell Dixon of Hawkinsville and Maggie
Brannen of Unadilla; her twin brother, Melvin
McKinney of Hawkinsville; several nieces and
nephews. -The family will be at the residence and
receive friends 12 noon until 1:00 P.M. Thursday at
Crest Lawn Funeral Home. A reception will be held
Thursday 3:00 P.M. at the Melton Place Clubhouse on
Jabrok Circle off Sardis Church Road. -Contributions

Gene Keith Hammonds -HAWKINSVILLE, GA - Gene
Keith Hammonds, age 30, of Hawkinsville, Georgia, died
Friday, July 20, 2007 in a Macon hospital. Funeral services
will be held at 3P.M. Monday, July 23, 2007 in the Chapel of
Clark Funeral Home with Rev. N. B. Goss officiating. Burial
will be in the Trail Branch Cemetery in Bleckley County.
-Mr. Hammonds was a native of Pulaski County, a member of
the Baptist faith, a cable tech with ComSouth and a loving
husband and a wonderful father. -Survivors include his wife,
Joy Hammonds; children, Brittany Hammonds and Autmn
Hammonds; mother and stepfather, Inez and Bob Bennett, all
of Hawkinsville; brothers, Johnny Hammonds of Canton, Jeff
Hammonds of Pineview and Charles Hammonds of Hawkinsville;
