Mr. Joe B. Giddens -EASTMAN - MR. JOSEPH BENJAMIN (JOE B.) GIDDENS, age 91, of Eastman died Monday, August 11, 2008, in Coliseum Medical Center. -Funeral services are scheduled for 2P.M., Wednesday, August 13, from the Graveside in Giddens Harrell Cemetery, with Elder Willie Hatfield and Rev. Ricky Gilmore officiating. -Mr. Giddens, a native of Dodge County, was a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church, a retired employee of Bowen Furniture Company, retired Dodge County Coroner, a member of the Dodge Genealogical Society and son of the late Mattie Lou Strother Giddens & John Benjamin Giddens. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Macie Joiner Giddens in 1989, and a stepson, Ralph Knight. -Survivors: wife, Agnes Knight Giddens; daughter, Peggy G. Joel Owens officiaiting, with Interment in Hopewell Church Cemetery. -Mrs. McCleskey, a native of Sumter County, was a Member of Hopewell Baptist Church and Former Member of Bethel Baptist Church of Americus and was a retired head bank teller of Citizens Bank of Americus. She was daughter of the late Mildred Dew Morris & Curtis E. Morris and widow of the late John Shipp McCleskey Sr., and was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Morris. -Survivors: daughter, Kim McCleskey Dowdy (Adam); son, John Shipp McCleskey Jr., (Angie); sister, Carol M. Daughter of the late Lillie Page Large and Joe Large Sr., she was a homemaker, a former member of Eastman First Baptist Church, attended Valley Brethren Church in Jones Mill, Pennsylvania and was preceded in death by a daughter, Justine Dix. -Survivors: husband, Vernon Keslar of Donegal, PA; two daughters, Natalie Dix and Alyssa Keslar; sister, Sandra L. George S. Walker - M.D. 1946 - 2008 -EASTMAN - Dr. George S. Walker III, Age 61, of Eastman died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in Dodge County Hospital. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Thursday, June 5, in First Baptist Church, Eastman, with Dr. David Smith and Dr. Jerry Peele officiating, with Interment in Hopewell Cemetery, with Mr. Bobby Ryals officiating. - G. S. was born in Ben Hill County, Son of the late Evelyn Dowdy Walker & George S. Walker Jr., was a Doctor of Internal Medicine, a Member of First Baptist Church and became one of the most prominent physicians at Dodge County Hospital. -Dr. Walker received his education at Dodge County High School and graduated in 1964. He attended Middle Georgia College from 1964 thru 1966. He was accepted into the early entrance Medical School at Augusta College in 1966 and continued his medical education at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He completed his education at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, in 1974. -Dr Walker graduated with honors from Middle Georgia College, AOA at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, received the Student American Association Golden Apple Award in 1973 and received honors in OB/GYN at the University of Tennessee. -Dr Walker began his practice as a general internist in Eastman in December 1974 and has practiced at Dodge County Hospital for the past 33 years. He also had a special interest in cardiology and nephrology. He established the ICU-CCU Unit at Dodge County Hospital in 1974 and developed the Telemedicine Unit in 1992. He was Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of American College of Physicians. -Dr Walker was a clinical instructor at Mercer University School of Medicine, 1984-1989, taught P.A. Students at Emory University, 1990-1992, a clinical instructor at Medical College of Georgia, 1994-2005 and taught one on one primary care internal medicine in the community setting for students, which is generally for a four week rotation. -Dr Walker has been very active in the community and has achieved many accomplishments. He was a Board Member for the Bank of Eastman, 1986-1991, Hospital Authority Board Member, 1979-1980 and 2004-present and was serving as Chairman for 2007-2008. She was a Rental Property Owner and a homemaker. Billy Ray Gatlin -EASTMAN, GA - Billy R. Gatlin, age 73, of Eastman, Georgia passed away on February 22, 2008. -Services will be held on Sunday, February 24 at 3P.M. in Midway Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Harrell Cemetery. -Mr. Gatlin was born on December 29, 1934 and was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County. He was a member of the armed forces during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 48 years and Sunday School teacher for 37 years. He was retired from the Southern Bell Telephone Company and Mitchell EMC. -Survivors include wife, Sue Grant Gatlin; daughters, Rhonda Gatlin, ReneŽ G. Shadix (Terry); granddaughter, Heather B. Faulk (Ben); great-grandchildren, Taylor Faulk and Gavin Faulk. Other survivors include sisters, Grace G. Jennings, Regina Gatlin, and Mary G.
