Services for Virginia Smith Davis Bryant ,89, of Cochran who
died August 10, 2008 in the loving care of her daughters,
will be held Wednesday, August 13th at 2:30 P.M., in the
chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Rev. Greg Evans will
officiate. Burial will be private. -Mrs. Bryant was born in
Bleckley County the daughter of the late William "Big Bud"
Smith and Fannie Foskey Smith. She was retired from L&H
Shirt Company and a member of Southside Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Hinson King.
-Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Dr. A. Donald)
Evans of Macon, Sandra Kay Rousseau of Orlando, FL;
grandchildren, Jeff Evans, Greg Evans, Mischa Pacini,
Phyleischa Owen, Todd Rousseau; eleven great-grandchildren;
sisters, Flourence S. Hatfield of Cochran, Monnelle S.
Collins of Cochran, Maria S. Maddox of Cochran. -The family

Services for Marilyn Meadows Brewer, 70, of Lizella who died
August 10, 2008 will be held at 11A.M., on Wednesday, August
13th in Cornerstone Baptist Church in Macon. Rev. Mike
Blizzard will officiate. Memorial Services in Cochran will
be held at 7:00P.M., Wednesday evening in the chapel of
Fisher Funeral Home. Rev. Ken Brooks will officiate. -Mrs.
Brewer was born in Cochran the daughter of the late Benny
and Blanche Meadows. She was graduate of Cochran High School
Class of 1956, received her bachelors degree in Elementary
Education and a Masters Degree from Georgia State College
for Women in Milledgeville. She was a retired Educator with
the Bibb County School System. She was a member of
Cornerstone Baptist Church and a former member of Bellevue
Baptist Church. -Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (Tim)
Gilliland of Lizella; granddaughter, Erin Mabia Usry of
Byron; sister, Eleanor M. Daniels of Butler. -The family may

Lizella and will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to
8:00P.M., at Cornerstone Baptist Church Social Hall and

Hinson, Sr. -PARRISH, FL - John Morgan Hinson, Sr., age 63,
died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, in Parrish, FL. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at 11A.M. at
Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran. -Mr. Hinson was a native of
Cochran and was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry
Hinson. He was Founder and CEO of Hinson Building
Corporation. He was a 1963 graduate of Cochran High School
and a graduate of Middle Georgia College and Auburn
University, majoring in Civil Engineering. -Survivors are
his wife, Lisa Hinson of Parrish, FL; his son, John M.
(Christie) Hinson, Jr. of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren,
Coley and Claire Hinson of Bradenton, FL; his parents,
Missie Hinson of Cochran and Talmadge Hinson of Cochran. -In

Cemetery. -Mrs. Sanders was born in Bleckley County, the
daughter of the late Griffin and Sara Tom Rogers Smith. She
was co-owner of Sanders Cleaners and a member of Bethany
Baptist Church. She was active in the America Cancer
Association. -Survivors include her husband of 68 years,
Ralph Sanders of Cochran, several nieces and nephews. -In

Wilber D. Dix -COCHRAN - Wilber D. Dix, age 76, died
Thursday. Funeral services are Saturday at 11A.M. at Mathis
Funeral Home. Burial is in the Bowers Cemetery. -Mr. Dix was
a lifelong resident of Cochran. He was the son of the late
Cleveland and Luelia Purser Dix and was preceded in death by
his son, Jimmy Dix. He was retired from Robins Air Force
Base, a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the New Hope
Freewill Baptist Church. -Survivors are his wife of 52
years, Frances P. Dix of Cochran; children, David (Susan)
Dix and Karen (Joe) Fletcher of Cochran and Sherri Dix of
Dubois; sister, Martha Jones of Empire; ten grandchildren,
Jim Dix, Emily Mullis, Daniel Couch, Cody, Casey and

officiating. -Mr. Myers was born in Pulaski County and had
lived in Warner Robins for the past nine months. He attended
Bleckley County High School and attended Bethany Baptist

Wimberly, age 82, died Friday in the Bryant Nursing Center.

United Methodist Church. Burial is in the Cedar Hill
Cemetery. -Mrs. Wimberly had lived most of her life in
Bleckley County and was the widow of Mathew Whit Wimberly.
She was a member and trustee of the Longstreet United
Methodist Church. -Survivors are her daughters, Willene
(Louis) Foster of Cochran and Claire (Owen) Kirkpatrick of
Newnan; son, Matthew Wimberly of Cochran; three

Berryhill was the daughter of the late J.T. Bunyon Hall and
Bertha Mae Collins Hall. She was a native of Wilkinson
County and lived in Cochran since 1948. She was the widow of
William Mahlon Berryhill and operated Grace's Beauty Shop
for 36 years. She was a homemaker, gardener, a member of the
First Baptist Church of Cochran and the Rebekah Sunday
School Class. -Survivors include her daughter, Beckie B.

preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Meadows and Bill

William B. "Buck" Merrell, Jr., age 84, died Tuesday at his
residence. Funeral services are Friday at 11A.M. in the
Limestone Baptist Church. Burial is in the Limestone
Memorial Gardens. -Mr. Merrell, born in Atlanta, had lived
in Cochran for the past 46 years. He was the husband of the
late Elizabeth "Liz" Garner Merrell and was preceded in
death by his son William B. "Benny" Merrell, III. He was a
retired truck driver for J.M. Huber Corporation and a member
of the Limestone Baptist Church. -Survivors are his
daughter, Mary (Ricky) Stapleton of Cochran; his
granddaughters, Amye (Cass) Bracewell of Rentz and Beth
Merrell of Dublin; his great grandchildren, Madison and Bo

Pearl Yeomans Cornett, age 80, died Friday in the Medical
Center in Macon following an extended illness. Funeral

is in the Rowland Family Cemetery in Chester. -Mrs. Cornett
was born in Dodge County to the late William David and Ida
Rowland Yeomans, Sr. She was preceded in death by her
sister, three brothers and her granddaughter, Lisa Diane
McDuffie. She was retired from Jac-Arts Label Factory and
was a caregiver for the elderly at age 77 until her health
issues enabled her to do so. She was of the Pentecostal
faith. -Survivors are her children, Elaine Myrick and James
"Eddie" (Debra) West of Cochran, Larry "Tim" Sword of
Nashville, TN; her sister, Bessie Mae Purvis of Cochran; six
grandchildren, Pam Miller of Cochran, Sonya Jordan and
Joseph McDuffie of Pearson, Felicia (Robert) Bowers and
Angie (Jason) Glover of Savannah, Dwayne (Melissa) Sword of

County. She was the widow of Felt Stewart. She was retired

Justice appointee. She also worked for the Civil Service
temporarily with the Panama Canal Zone, Balboa, Panama. -She
married John R. Roland, Sr. in Annapolis, Maryland. She was
a beloved wife, mother and homemaker. She was a proud member
and staunch supporter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Cochran and a former Sunday school teacher. -Survivors

86, of Cochran who died Saturday, March 22, 2008 in Goodwill Nursing

Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Stewart and Rev. Mobley Cross
officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. -Mrs. NeSmith was
born in Bleckley County, the daughter of the late Jesse Daniels and
Julia Mae Barrs Daniels. She was the widow of Cecil NeSmith. She was
a member of Bethany Baptist Church and a homemaker. -Survivors
include a daughter, Jan (Wayne) Hamlin of Bonaire; two sons, Tony
NeSmith of Atlanta and Ken NeSmith of Cochran; three sisters, Inez
Pipkin, Annis Dean and Sue Sanders, all of Cochran; five brothers,
Jesse Daniels of Lake Sinclair, Emmit Daniels of Eatonton, Lamar
Daniels of Macon, Harold Daniels of Dublin and Tommy Daniels of
Cochran; grandchildren, Kimberly Hall and Tamara Hall of Charlotte,
NC, Sharon Moreau of Byron, Dusty NeSmith of Macon and Bobby NeSmith

will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. -Mrs. Manning was a
lifelong resident of Bleckley County, the daughter of the
late John Henry Horton, Sr. and Mattie Gibbs Horton. She was
the widow of Theopolis Perry Horton. She was a member of Mt.
Calvary Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in
death by a son, Perry Manning, a daughter, Patsey Burke and
a granddaughter, Valerie Marie Manning. -Survivors include
two daughters, Margie M. Lucas of Cochran and Peggy M. Smith
of Spartanburg, SC; three sons, Ronald W. Manning of Macon,
Jerry W. Manning and Danny Ray Manning, both of Cochran;
sister, Neline Bernard of Crowley, Louisiana; son-in-law,
Bill Burke of Gordon; 11 grandchildren and several great

in Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville will be held at
11A.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in Macon Memorial Park
Cemetery in Bibb County. -Mrs. Jones was born in Bibb
County, the daughter of the late Ernest and Louise Norman.
She was the widow of Rev. W. Paul Jones. They had lived in
Cochran since 1978. She was a member of Limestone Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Norman E. Jones
and a daughter, Susan Savage. -Survivors include a son, W.P.
"Bill" Jones, Jr. of Warner Robins; sister, Hazel Kendrick
of Macon, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Marie Knight Giddens, 62, of Cochran who died Saturday,
March 15, 2008 at her residence will be held at 11A.M.
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley
Memorial Gardens. -Mrs. Giddens was born in Reno, Nevada,
the daughter of the late Gussie Mae Leslie Knight. She was a
graduate of Cochran High School Class of 1963. She had lived
in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for 23 years before moving back
to Cochran in 2003. She was a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cochran Ward. She was preceded
in death by a brother, Leslie Knight. -Survivors include her
husband, Neil Giddens of Cochran; two daughters, April
(Bruce) Hall of Murfreesboro, TN and Audra (Jason) Pierce of
Cochran; two sons, Scott Giddens of Franklin, Indiana and
Greg (Wendy) Giddens of Winder; father, Millard Knight of
Cochran; sister, Linda Edge of Cochran; 13 grandchildren.

Long -COCHRAN - Jolene T. Long, age 59, died Sunday in the Medical
Center in Macon. Funeral services are Tuesday at 3P.M. in the chapel
of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial is in the Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial
Gardens. -Mrs. Long, born in Fort Collins, Colorado, had lived in
Cochran since 1970. She was secretary for Davis Propane in Cochran
and attended Ruth Baptist Church. -Survivors are her husband, Felton
Lynn Long of Cochran; her daughter, Daiquri Long of Americus. -The
family is at 125 10th Street and will greet friends from 7:00 until
9:00 P.M. Monday at Mathis Funeral Home.

Thelma
Kirkpatrick Walker -COCHRAN - Thelma Kirkpatrick Walker, age 86,
died Sunday in the Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. Funeral
services are Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Burial is in the church cemetery. -Mrs. Walker was a life long
resident of Dodge County. She was the daughter of the late George H.
and Edna Mixon Kirkpatrick and the widow of William F. Walker and
Perry Brown. She was preceded in death by her son Glynn Brown. She
was retired from Robins Air Force Base and a former employee of the
L&H Shirt Factory. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church,
the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and the W.M.U. -Survivors
are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wayne Dykes; her son and
daughter-in-law, Terry and Jenny Brown; daughter-in-law, Jeanette
Brown all of Cochran; her sister Bertha Register of Dublin; her
brothers, B.J. Kirkpatrick of Soperton, Horace Kirkpatrick of
Empire, Frank Kirkpatrick and Owen Kirkpatrick of Roddy; six
grandchildren, Bob Dykes, Gary Dykes, Stephanie D. Gibbs, Perry
Brown, Gail B. Cheek and Corey Brown; seven great grandchildren.

Linda Kay Evans Faulk -COCHRAN - Linda Kay Evans Faulk
passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, following a battle with
leukemia. Linda was born August 21, 1962, as the fourth
child of Marie Evans and the late Gus James Evans, Jr. She
was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons. Linda was
an educator having taught for over twenty years. She
received her Associate of Arts form Middle Georgia College,
her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and
Master of Education form Georgia Southwestern University and
her Specialist in Education from Troy State University. Her
passion for teaching and the love she has for her students
touched the lives of many. She was named 1990 Pulaski County
Elementary School Teacher of the Year; 2000 Bleckley County
Primary School Teacher of the Year and 2007-2008 GLRS
Special Education Teacher of the Year. Linda enjoyed
spending time with her family and friends. She was known for
her thoughtful and caring nature. -She leaves behind to
cherish her memories her two sons, Benjamin and Lucas Faulk;
her mother, Marie B. Evans; her brothers and sisters, Jimmy
(Belinda) Evans, Louneil Tripp, Mary Ann (Richard) Young and
Bobby (Carol) Evans; aunt, Dorothy Jones; her uncles, James
and Julian Jackson; her nieces, Michelle Evans, Millie (John
Marshall) Smith, Erin Darsey, Anna Claire Evans, Jana Coody
and Tori Lancaster; her nephews, Seth (Brandi Turner) Darsey,
Joe Young, Eli Evans, Jamey Coody and Chance Lancaster.

born in White Hall, Maryland, the daughter of the late James
Elmer Slade and Ray Almony Slade. She was the widow of
Charlie M. Mullis. She was a former member of Cochran
Woman's Club and Bleckley County Senior Citizen's Center.
She was a member of Cochran First United Methodist Church,
United Methodist Women, James Chambers Sunday School Class
and Circle #3. -Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary M.
(David) Cook of Easley, SC and Janet McPhilimy of Suwanee;

in 2006. He was a regional manager for Union Chemical Company and
was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. -Survivors include a son, Rohn (Laurinda)

preceded in death by his brother Robert M. Little, Sr. He was
